The Moon Who Couldn't Sleep
An illustrated story by Little Lantern · Kids · Storybook · All ages · English, Turkish
Also in: Türkçe
A little girl and a wise old owl sing the tired Moon to sleep.
Ada cannot sleep, and neither can the Moon: everyone sleeps under her light, but nobody has ever sung her a lullaby. Ada and Professor Hoot climb the hill behind the house and sing the song Ada's grandmother taught her, until the whole night joins in and the Moon finally dozes off.
Characters
- Ada (Little girl): A six-year-old who notices things grown-ups miss.
- The Moon (The sleepy Moon): The Moon herself, kind and very, very tired.
- Professor Hoot (Wise owl): An old barn owl who knows every song of the night.
Episode 1: A Yawn in the Sky
Ada sees the Moon yawning and asks why she's still awake. Professor Hoot offers to help.
Ada: Moon, why are you still awake?
The Moon: Everyone sleeps under me. But nobody sings me to sleep.
Professor Hoot: A lullaby for the Moon? That's a job for us.
Episode 2: The Lullaby
On the hill, Ada sings her grandmother's song, the night joins in, and the Moon drifts off to sleep.
Ada sang the song her grandmother used to sing to her.
The Moon: That's... lovely...
Professor Hoot: Now it's your turn, little one.
