Captain Thursday

An illustrated story by Inkwell Tales · Action · Comic book · All ages · English

A superhero who only has powers on Thursdays must stop a bank robbery at 11:52 on a Wednesday night.

Dave is an accountant six days a week and Captain Thursday on the seventh. Professor Paradox has worked it out and robs banks only on Wednesdays. With eight minutes to midnight and his niece Zoe whispering the plan, Dave fights back with the only weapon he has left: the most boring tax speech ever given.

Characters

  • Dave / Captain Thursday (Hero): A gentle accountant who becomes a superhero, but only on Thursdays.
  • Professor Paradox (Villain): A vain inventor who plans every crime around the calendar.
  • Zoe (Dave's niece): Dave's eleven-year-old niece, a gadget genius and his secret sidekick.

Episode 1: Wednesday, 11:52 PM

Professor Paradox robs the bank on a Wednesday, when Captain Thursday is just Dave. Dave shows up anyway.

Paradox loots the vault with his robot arms.

Professor Paradox: Wednesdays! The one day Captain Thursday is just... Dave!

Dave bursts in wearing a cardigan.

Dave / Captain Thursday: Stop right there!

Professor Paradox: Or what? You'll do my taxes?

Zoe whispers the plan: stall until midnight.

Zoe: Eight minutes to midnight. Stall him!

Episode 2: Midnight

Dave bores Paradox half to sleep with tax law until the clock strikes twelve, and Thursday arrives.

The world's most boring speech.

Dave / Captain Thursday: ...and Section 4B, on deductible laboratory equipment...

Professor Paradox: So... sleepy...

Midnight strikes and Dave transforms.

BONG!

Dave / Captain Thursday: Happy Thursday!

Paradox is tied up with his own robot arms.

Zoe: Best accountant ever.

Dave / Captain Thursday: Technically, the best Thursday.
