Son Kervan

An illustrated story by Kervan Studio · Fantasy · Artistic · All ages · Turkish, English

Bir genç deveci ve yaşlı bir hikâyeci, kayıp bir ağacın son tohumunu yıldızların yürüdüğü çölden ölmekte olan bir şehre taşıyor.

The great Moon Tree of the city of Lâl has withered and its wells have dried; only one glowing seed is left. Old storyteller Sitare Ana chooses young camel driver Emir to carry it across the Desert of Walking Stars, where the stars move and only those who can read their dance find the way. Through a sandstorm and a mirage, with the stubborn camel Fındık, Emir learns that the seed doesn't need water to grow, but a story.

Characters

  • Emir (Young camel driver): A nineteen-year-old camel driver who has never led anything but camels.
  • Sitare Ana (Old storyteller): An ancient storyteller who reads the dance of the walking stars.
  • Fındık (Stubborn camel): Emir's stubborn, loyal camel, who has opinions about everything.

Episode 1: Yürüyen Yıldızlar

Sitare Ana gives Emir the last seed of the Moon Tree. The caravan sets out, the stars start to walk, and a sandstorm tests them.

The last caravan gathers at the oasis.

Lâl'in son ağacı kurumuştu. Geriye tek bir tohum kalmıştı.

Sitare Ana gives Emir the glowing seed.

Sitare Ana: Bu tohumu Lâl'e sen götüreceksin, Emir.

Emir: Ben mi? Ben sadece bir deveciyim!

The caravan sets out into the dunes.

Hırrr!

Ertesi akşam son kervan yola çıktı.

The stars begin to move.

Emir: Yıldızlar yer değiştiriyor! Yolu nasıl bulacağız?

Sitare teaches him to read the stars' dance.

Sitare Ana: Yıldızlar yürür ama dans da eder. Adımlarını say.

Emir counts the stars' steps.

Emir: Üç adım sola... bir adım geri...

A sandstorm rises on the horizon.

Sitare Ana: Kum fırtınası! Develeri çöktürün!

Emir shelters the seed beside Fındık.

Emir: Tohumu koru, Fındık!

After the storm, the seed still glows.

Fırtına geçtiğinde tohum hâlâ parlıyordu.

Sitare hands Emir her lantern staff.

Sitare Ana: Yolun yarısı bitti. Gerisini sana yıldızlar anlatacak.

Episode 2: Lâl'in Bahçesi

Emir leads the caravan past a mirage to the dying city. The seed will not grow until he tells it the story of their journey.

Emir leads the caravan by the stars.

Artık kervanı Emir yönetiyordu.

A shimmering mirage city tempts them.

Emir: Bu bir serap. Yıldızlar başka yolu gösteriyor.

Fındık stubbornly pulls toward the mirage.

Hırrr!

Emir: Fındık, bana güven!

At dawn the real city of Lâl appears.

Sitare Ana: İşte Lâl. Ya da ondan geriye kalan.

Emir walks the vial through the silent townspeople.

Şehrin kuyuları kurumuş, insanlar umudu unutmuştu.

Emir plants the seed at the roots of the dead tree.

Emir: Bunca yol... Umarım yeter.

Nothing happens; the people turn away.

Emir: Belki de çok geç kaldık.

Sitare: the seed is waiting for a story.

Sitare Ana: Tohum su değil, hikâye bekliyor. Ona yolculuğumuzu anlat.

Emir tells the story and the stars come down.

Emir: Bir zamanlar, yıldızların yürüdüğü bir çölde...

The Moon Tree blooms and Lâl comes back to life.

Sitare Ana: Artık sen de bir hikâyecisin.

Ve Lâl yeniden yeşerdi.
